NASA World Wind

I can't believe I haven't blogged this already. Weird.

NASA World Wind is one of the neatest free apps out there. Web services are used to download topographical or satellite images from just about anywhere. I found that the "USGS-1M" settings provide the best detail around the US. For instance, here's my house:



(X marks the spot; not all images have been updated recently; This one is at least 3 years old...)
